Colors of Costa Rica Photography by Adam Barker June 13 to July 31, 2008 |
Costa Rica is a place of innate beauty, where lush vegetation, curious wildlife, belching volcanoes, endless coastline and cascading waterfalls overwhelm the senses. Once pristine, many of the beaches and national parks are now overrun with eager tourists looking to capture their own memorable moments on this "rich coast". With such a sharp increase in tourism and visitation, one wonders if this coastal gem can still offer pristine vistas and time-stopping moments of beauty and splendor. Explore this exhibition and discover for yourself a Costa Rica that delivers beauty beyond words. |

About my Photography
Some photographers take pictures. I like to think that I make photographs. I chase magical light at ridiculous hours of the day and night--hoping to capture that elusive moment of oneness between man and nature. While I can't share the exact ratio of how often this moment actually occurs, I can tell you without reservation that it does occur. I hope my photographs are a further testament to the fact that these moments are more prevalent than we all could imagine. Having been heavily influenced by Western greats like Ansel Adams, Tim Fitzharris, Galen Rowell and David Muench, my imagery hinges upon three integral concepts: light, composition and striking subject matter. As a photographer, I endeavor to transfer the viewer to a different place. Paradise? Perhaps. If you have ever lost yourself in an image for even a few seconds, you have experienced what I hope to deliver on a regular basis as a landscape photographer.
